Drupal vs. WordPress

In order to figure out which CMS works best depending on the type of project at hand, I've tried many of the top recommendations listed at CMS Matrix. Among all of the CMSs there, two platforms stood out: Drupal and WordPress. Since I've developed more websites in Drupal, I may have bias leaning to that side, but this is a guide that may help potential clients decide why one is better to use than the other for their own website.

Women's Museum of California

To keep up with the latest web trends, Goldlilys Media updated the entire static HTML site to a fully functional website with a gorgeous design that matches the organization's theme and ideals. Goldlilys Media interviewed the staff of Women's Museum of California to gather enough information about their organization to translate to the website medium. Made it possible so that adding contents to the website won't need any programming knowledge, but with only a few selections from forms using Drupal CMS allows the display of sections in any way imaginable.

Brian Testo Associates

Setup the Nivo Slider functionality on the homepage to display services offered by Brian Testo Associates. Themed and built out the Auctions/Liquidation Calendar listings and its main pages.

Brian Testo Associates helps financial institutions, legal firms, corporations and other professional service organizations to maximize return on their assets through appraisals.

Success Against The Odds Planner

Build out the back-end with Drupal and creation of a custom module to make AJAX updates directly to forms instead of going to another page. The planner also contains the ability to send out reminders through email or SMS messages using Tropo. The reminder depends on certain conditions the user chooses on their profile. Besides coding the back-end, also themed the front-end user interface with jQuery library for interactivity and CSS.

UCSD Visual Arts Department Part I

Re-themed an existing Drupal 6 using a Fusion subtheme from Photoshop designs. Learned how to create multilayered submenus and different styling / coloring for each section using CSS. Configured the photo galleries, events and blogs as node references (relations) to particular users with different roles for the site. Added twitter feeds, views slideshows, news and events calendar on homepage. Fixed existing content types to include references and for the views to display the required fields.
